Unique Travel Destinations
In April 2022, I embarked on an unforgettable journey to the breathtaking landscapes of Skardu and Gilgit, Pakistan. Despite facing a sudden landslide along the way, I chose to continue traveling, driven by the allure of the majestic northern region. On April 22, I stayed at the iconic Shangrila Resort, known for its serene lake surrounded by lush greenery and the fairytale-like ambiance of its cottages. Waking up to a crisp mountain morning on April 23, I set out for an adventurous day.
My travels took me towards K2 Base Camp, passing through the captivating valleys of Khaplu, a serene town known for its ancient Chaqchan Mosque and the historical Khaplu Fort. Along the way, I stumbled upon a unique horse hockey match, a thrilling local sport combining tradition and athleticism. Later, we reached an international car racing ground, an unexpected find amid the rugged mountains, where I witnessed an exhilarating race in this stunning high-altitude setting.
Though I forgot to mention it earlier, another highlight of the region is Nanga Parbat, the ninth-highest mountain in the world, often called the "Killer Mountain" due to its challenging climbing history. The views of this towering peak are nothing short of awe-inspiring, leaving visitors in sheer admiration of nature’s grandeur.
